The Story Behind
the Name "Mahanaim"

Why Mahanaim? A Biblical Foundation

The name Mahanaim comes from the Bible, found in Genesis 32:1-2. In this passage, Jacob is preparing to meet his brother Esau after many years apart. God reassures Jacob, and Jacob names the place Mahanaim, meaning “Two Camps” — a place where God’s protection and presence are evident.

Mahanaim symbolizes:

  • God’s presence among His people – Jacob recognized God’s protection and blessing in a moment of uncertainty.

  • A place of community and gathering – the “two camps” represent a safe space where people come together under God’s guidance.

  • Faith and courage in transition – just as Jacob trusted God before facing Esau, Mahanaim Camp of God encourages people to trust God through life’s challenges.

By choosing the name Mahanaim, the church reflects its mission to be a place of refuge, worship, and spiritual growth, where all are welcomed to experience God’s love and guidance.

T.E.P. MAHANAIM STATEMENT OF FAITH AND FUNDAMENTALS

Introduction

This Statement of Faith expresses the core beliefs of our church and is based on the sixteen historic fundamental doctrines of the Pentecostal faith. These doctrines are not human dogmas, but a faithful expression of the Christian faith grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the apostles, inspired by the Holy Spirit.

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and final authority for all matters of faith and Christian living. Every doctrine and teaching must be measured by Scripture, not by personal opinions, traditions, or human interpretation.

We also believe that Scripture interprets Scripture. God’s revelation in the Bible is complete, and no new doctrinal revelation is being given today. The Holy Spirit helps believers understand and apply the truth already revealed in God’s Word.

This document reflects the doctrinal foundation that guides our teaching, worship, and church life.

We invite you to read and download the full Statement of Faith below. The document is available in both English and Spanish for your convenience.
